Markus Schulz ‘World Tour – Best Of 2012’ compilation announced

Markus Schulz got voted America's Best DJ of 2012 by the readers of DJ Times Magazine. To celebrate this, he's put together a compilation album which is recorded during his amazing world tour . The album is going to released on December 14th, 2012 so you'd have a really easy gift-idea for a friends who's really into electronic dance music!

Schulz has got an impressive set of achievements as some of the numbers and names of the tracklist show (look below for full tracklist of 2 CDs). 'Best Of 2012' takes the listener to a musical journey braking all sorts of barriers. The sounds have been recorded from 11 different countries and 17 different cities. 'Hollywood Boulevard' was captured from the opening minutes of Shulz's 10-hour set in Los Angeles. Omnia's 'Fusion' is there for your enjoyment . Schulz named this his track-of-the year. “Carry On,” Mr. Pit’s “It Is What It Is,” and Grube & Hovsepian’s “City Of Angels” connect the dots between Miami and Ibiza to Europe's Amsterdam and Kiev. The bonus disc is a recording of the DJs peak moments at club performances on the west coast leg of the Scream tour.

Lots of firepower on Alex Metric’s ‘Ammunition Pt. 2’ EP

Recently Solveig Petersen introduced Alex Metric, the talented DJ/producer from UK. It was mentioned that there's going to be a release anytime soon. Well now, the highly awaited  'Ammunition Pt. 2' EP has arrived!

If you're even a bit into techno, this EP is simply breathtaking. It starts with 'Prophecies' – a high tempo, high pitch build-ups and an effective piano break followed by raw electro house stomping and non-stop conga drums will trigger even the most demanding crowds! Feauturing Oliver, the next track 'Motion Study' is a suitable follow-up with more emphasis on the profound piano riff. This one let's you breath a little before the EP will assault you with 'Rave Weapon' – the most hyped up tune from 'Ammunition Pt.2'. So what do you have to say about 'Rave Weapon'… Chicago house, Detroit techno, heavy build-ups, brilliant vocal parts, instant yearning for the dance-floor – the hype was certainly justified for this track has managed to blend all that into a whole! This one's especially suitable for DJs because there's also remixes by Aeroplane, Mark Starr and UZ!

On a Different Note: Essential Mix by The Gaslamp Killer

In The Official Global DJ Rankings, The Gaslamp Killer is filed under the 'electronica' genre. While this isn't actually false, it doesn't really capture the nature of The Gaslamp Killer (born William Benjamin Bensussen), an eccentric DJ/producer. Growing up in San Diego, California Bensussen started listening to Jimi Hendrix and Dr. Dre. As a major influence, DJ Shadow inspired him to become a DJ when he was 17. The genres of Bensussen's repertoire vary from electronica, hip hop, glitch, dubstep, psychedelic rock and much more. Check out his first ever Essential Mix for the legendary Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 show!

This is a surreal journey during which The Gaslamp Killer accompanies you with fellow weirdos from the Brainfeeder label – Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Portishead Mr. Oizo and Flying Lotus to name a few.

“I made this Essential Mix with two Technics 1200 turntables and a Rane TTM56 DJ mixer,” introduces Gaslamp Killer. “I also used a Roland SP-303 Dr. Sample and Pro Tools. Some of this mix was made using Serato and some of it using my original vinyl collection. I chose songs I’ve been listening to around the house as well as songs I play in my sets around the world,” he continued. “This mix was also influenced highly by my weekly club night here in Los Angeles called the Low End Theory. You will hear exclusives from Hudson Mohawke, Lorn, Dilla and Flying Lotus, not to mention a bunch of wild and crazy mixes and edits done by yours truly, The Gaslamp Killer. I hope that this narrative takes you on a journey through my ears, my heart, my mind as well as my soul.”

Intricate remix by deadmau5

Well, if you're expecting a fast-paced bass-filled electro house track, you'll have to look elsewhere. Although, I suggest you turn your attention to the delicate piece of musical craft that is this remix. You might've not been familiar with this side of deadmau5.

How To Destroy Angels or HTDA recently came up with an amazing tune called 'Ice Age'. You can find the tune from the Omen EP and watch the freshly published video below! The slowly building song reminds Nine Inch Nails, but then again HTDA consists of the brilliant frontman of NIN, Trent Raznor,  his vocally talented wife Mariqueen and  Atticus Ross and Rob Sheridan. Listen to the original track – a subtly aggressive piece creeping up on you slowly!

Deadmau5 has taken the 7-minutes of instrumental winter wonder and enrobed it with electricity – with crackling noises, acoustic plucks, winding electric guitars and all that. This one's perfect to start the day or end the night!
