Flux Pavilion: The Dubstep Legend Taking Over the World

Dubstep has come a long way since its inception in the early 2000s, and one artist who has played a significant role in its rise to mainstream success is none other than Flux Pavilion.

Born Joshua Steele in Towcester, England, Flux Pavilion rose to fame in 2010 with his breakout single “I Can’t Stop,” which quickly went viral on YouTube and became one of the defining tracks of the dubstep genre.

But Flux Pavilion’s success didn’t stop there. Over the past decade, he has continued to reinvent himself and push the boundaries of electronic music with his innovative productions and energetic live performances.

One of the keys to Flux’s success has been his versatility as a producer. He is known for blending genres and incorporating varied elements into his tracks, from the melodic dubstep of “Emotional” to the trap-infused “I Feel It.” Flux has even experimented with more traditional song structures, as seen in his collaboration with singer-songwriter Asha on the three-track “Overthinking” EP.

Flux Pavilion’s live performances are also a sight to behold. With a dynamic stage presence and high-energy sets that blend classic and contemporary dubstep, Flux has become a staple of major festivals around the world, from Coachella to Electric Daisy Carnival.

But what sets Flux Pavilion apart from other artists in the electronic music world is his deep roots in the community and his commitment to giving back. In 2018, he launched the Earwax Project, a community outreach program that provides free music production workshops for young people across the UK. The program has since expanded to include mentorship opportunities and a record label, Earwax Records.

Flux is also committed to using his platform to raise awareness for important issues, such as mental health and the Black Lives Matter movement. In 2020, he used his Twitch channel to raise money for the charity Mind and to facilitate conversations about race and social justice.

Through his innovative productions, high-energy performances, and commitment to community building and social justice, Flux Pavilion has established himself as one of the most influential and respected artists in the electronic music world. As dubstep continues to evolve and expand, Flux Pavilion will undoubtedly remain at the forefront of the genre, pushing the boundaries and inspiring the next generation of electronic music creators.
