DJ 2manydjs: Defying Musical Boundaries for Over 20 Years

DJ 2manydjs, the Belgian electronic dance music duo comprised of brothers Stephen and David Dewaele, has been shaking up the music industry for over two decades with their unique and innovative style. While the brothers had a successful start as the band Soulwax, it was their transition to DJing that brought them widespread recognition.

Formed in the early 1990s, Soulwax saw the brothers experimenting with blending different genres of music to create an entirely new sound. Combining elements of rock, pop, punk, and hip-hop, they created a fresh and exciting sound that garnered them a loyal following in Europe and beyond.

In 1999, the Dewaele brothers adopted the name DJ 2manydjs and began incorporating their signature mash-up style into their sets. Their popularity grew, and they began collaborating with various artists and releasing critically acclaimed albums such as “As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2” and “Nite Versions.”

However, it is not just their music that sets them apart from other DJs in the industry. DJ 2manydjs also places a heavy emphasis on the visual aspect of their live shows. Their performances feature an array of stunning visuals, lighting effects, and art installations, making for a truly immersive experience.

In a 2019 interview with The Line of Best Fit, Stephen Dewaele spoke about the importance of visuals in their shows, saying, “It has always been for us about combining the message of the music with a message of the visuals and creating a complete performance that people come to experience, not just listen to.”

Their emphasis on visuals has earned them recognition in the fashion industry as well. In collaboration with designer Raf Simons, DJ 2manydjs provided a custom soundtrack for a fashion show that featured fashion displayed on a series of conveyor belts driven by robots, impressing fashion aficionados and music lovers alike.

Their artistic innovation and groundbreaking approach have earned them critical acclaim and loyal fans. In 2005, they were awarded the Best DJ Award at the MTV Europe Music Awards, and they have continued to win over audiences with their genre-defying music and unforgettable visual performances.

Despite their long and successful career, DJ 2manydjs remains humble and dedicated to their craft. In a 2017 interview with The Guardian, David Dewaele stated, “We just love DJing and making music, it’s what we’ve done for years.” With this love and passion for music, DJ 2manydjs will undoubtedly continue to push musical boundaries and inspire a new generation of music lovers.
