KT Tunstall Channels Warrior Energy In Her New “Human Being” Video

KT Tunstall has unveiled her empowering new video for “Human Being,” a track off the Scottish singer’s new album Wax.

“I’ve gone through my dad dying, I’ve gone through a divorce, I’ve gone through selling everything I owned and moving continents and relocating to Venice Beach, California, which I highly recommend if anybody has a crazy midlife crisis.”

My vision for the video was to create a mirror between a young, crazy-talented, bold little girl, and link that burgeoning energy to a band of warrior women who have achieved their goal of turning their young talents into something very real and powerful as working musicians and performers,” Tunstall said of the video in a statement.

I’m a huge fan of John Hughes movies, and I’m an ’80s kid, so all of that imagery from that time is kind of my childhood. It’s my coming of age. Also the song, “Human Being,” was certainly inspired very much by [Giorgio] Moroder, who produced Blondie. That was something that we were looking to as inspiration. The analog synthesizer sound in that song is very much of that time, and we used the old, real instruments. It was just a time that I remember, there were these really kick-ass rock women. The first woman I remember seeing on the TV was Kim Wilde, and she was doing “Kids in America.” That was the first time I’d really seen a rock ‘n’ roll chick on TV, because I grew up with Whitney Houston and Madonna and, you know, Wham! and Prince and Michael Jackson, and they’re the most incredible artists, but they weren’t artists that I looked at and went, “Ooh, I want to do that.” It was definitely a time where there was very strong female energy.

I knew before I started writing that I wanted it to be an electric guitar record,” Tunstall previously said of Wax. “It had to be visceral, about the physical, and the obstacles of that. It’s a record about human-ness, which we so often just write off as ‘flaws’. Wax evokes colonies of bees, candlelight, the material that the first long-playing records were made of, but more than that, wax is produced inside your own head.”

Lion Babe Takes A New Approach To A Holiday Classic

We just tried to give it a Sister Act, Lauryn Hill kinda vibe,” Lion Babe producer Lucas Goodman tells us. This remix is something holiday traditionalists can still appreciate. Hervey points out, “A little one might have never heard of, but this might be a way for them to relate to it easier.”

Jillian Hervey, 27, is one amazing singer! Her band, Lion Babe, just released a brand new track titled, “Rockets,” featuring Moe Moks. There’s no music video yet, but you can hear a snippet of the song off Jillian’s Twitter and Soundcloud. It’s a cool mix of reggae, electronic, and a whole lot of swag.

Catch the brand-new take on “Auld Lang Syne,” below, and make sure to interact with its social media presence—for each comment, Segura Viudas will be donating $25 to Women in Music, a nonprofit that empowers women in the music industry.

As we approach the holidays and the end of 2018, the oft-repeated maxim of “new year, new me” can feel a bit, well, cliché. Same goes with the schlocky songs that come with the season. Lion Babe gets that, and have figured out a way to make one NYE classic feel fresh and relatable again with a remix of “Auld Lang Syne.”

“We just tried to incorporate parts of the classic song that we felt were important like the guitar, but make it more contemporary for our time now. We just made minor tweaks and it made the song so much more powerful, and it made it come from the female voice. She’s the one saying ‘She’s a lady.’ She’s the one claiming her own identity.”

Actually, It’s Cool If Céline Dion Is A Satanist

A Catholic priest has accused Céline Dion of being a Satanist, citing her gender-neutral clothing line as the reason for his claim.

Who cares what Celine Dion thinks of the world, right? She’s really good at singing, in that earnest style. Why not judge her on that alone? No need to get political.

Well, she got into product lines, like many celebs. First a line of perfumes, and now children’s clothing. After all, she has a few kids of her own. (But that wasn’t really normal either, as I’ll explain tonight…)

What’s weird is that Celine Dion`s clothing for kids is gender-neutral.

These clothes are as ugly as you’d think. For one thing, they have lots of skulls. That’s not normal, either. Children are a fountain of life; they are vivacious, lively, inspiring, energetic, growing. It’s gross and unnatural to have children and dead men’s skulls together.

“People behind this are influencing children to disorder,” Esseff told the National Catholic Register. “This is definitely satanic. There is a mind behind it—an organized mindset.” CELINUNUNU, however, considers itself a brand that “liberates children from the traditional roles of boy/girl, and enables younger people to grow on values of equality with the freedom to strengthen their own power of personality based on mutual respect.”

I think her clothing line will fail — it feels like a political stunt, a trans activism gimmick.

Her own experience of having children was antiseptic and de-humanized; I’m not condemning in-vitro fertilization; but you must agree with me that her comments about keeping kids in the freezer till she wants them is odd.

I still like the sound of her voice, and I’m sure her concerts are great. But someone needs to get her off of this bizarre project she’s on. She doesn’t need the money.

I think Celine Dion is a bit screwed up — her life, while glamorous, has always been lived in a gilded cage. Her manager as a child, 26 years older than her, became her husband. She surely hasn’t had a moment of real life she since was a child herself.

Miley Cyrus Is On The Run From The Police In New Video

“Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” is the lead single from Ronson’s upcoming fifth studio album. It’s his first release as a lead artist since dominating the charts in 2014 with Bruno Mars and “Uptown Funk.” On his latest collaboration, Mark teams up with pop superstar Cyrus on “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.” The two wrote it together with Ronson producing the song alongside Jamie xx. The country-influenced dance track is not off from Miley’s sound on last year’s rustic Younger Now album. Plucky guitar and cinematic strings back her tackling a relationship on the rocks head-on. “We got all night to fall in love, but just like that we fall apart,” she sings. Ronson translates the heartbreak into one heck of a bluesy banger.

A new record to promote also meant advertising the material to her fans. Cyrus returned to Instagram on Nov. 26 after a four-month hiatus to tease the new music. She had wiped her account and posted a picture of a broken heart-shaped disco ball on the social media site, followed by subsequent posts spelling out the title of the track. Each post had a brief audio snippet previewing the song in the background, with videos suggesting to show sneak peeks of scenes from the official music video. They share the caption “11/29” as well as tags referencing Ronson.

Cyrus and Ronson are slated as the musical guests for Saturday Night Live for the Dec. 15 show. Matt Damon will be joining the pair that night as the host of the episode.

But it wouldn’t be a Miley Cyrus single without a slightly absurd, off-kilter music video. Following her as she leads the police on a slow speed chase, a la O.J. Simpson, we see Cyrus cruise down the highway and into a strip club, a shooting range, and in the process become a sort of folk hero as crowd line-up to cheer her on as she evades capture.

Taylor Swift hops to Universal Music Group

“Over the years, Sir Lucian Grainge and Monte Lipman have been such incredible partners. It’s so thrilling to me that they, and the UMG team, will be my label family moving forward. It’s also incredibly exciting to know that I’ll own all of my master recordings that I make from now on.”

Taylor Swift has left her record label home of the past 12 years and signed a new worldwide deal with Universal Music Group.

Announcing the big industry news via Instagram, the pop star posted a shot of herself posing with UMG chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge and Republic Records CEO Monte Lipman.

She added the caption: “I’m ecstatic to announce that my musical home will be Republic Records and Universal Music Group.

“Over the years, Sir Lucian Grainge and Monte Lipman have been such incredible partners. It’s so thrilling to me that they, and the UMG team, will be my label family moving forward. It’s also incredibly exciting to know that I’ll own all of my master recordings that I make from now on.

The 10-time Grammy winner signed with Big Machine Record when she was just 15-years-old. In her time with the Nashville-based independent label, Swift sold more than 32 million albums in the United States alone. The 28-year-old is now the only artist in history to have four albums sell more than one million copies in their release week. Swift is arguably one of the most successful female artists of all time.

She closed her note with a “heartfelt thanks” to Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta. “I’m extremely grateful to get to do what I love, especially with the people I’ve been fortunate enough to work with,” she shared.

Swift has also sparred publicly with Spotify, removing her catalog from the service for what she said was unfair compensation. Her music returned last year, after Spotify agreed to restrict some music to its paid tier, which pays higher royalties.

Swift also teased new music. “I’m so excited,” she wrote at the end of her note. “I can’t wait to show you what I’m making next.”
