Teyana Taylor’s Ballroom Take On ‘Cinderella’

If you don’t know, let me educate you. It stands for “Work This P-ssy” and it’s the final track off of Taylor’s KTSE album. The song is practically made for Ball culture, which is known for its voguing and strutting, and Teyana is ready to unleash the House of Petunia!

With her quadruple-threat credentials, Teyana Taylor is something of a unicorn in the world of music. Her most recent album, K.T.S.E., which she released last year on Kanye West’s label GOOD music, garnered much critical acclaim; she’s been a force on the runway as well; first at Yeezy in 2016, then at Philipp Plein two years ago, where she had the audience enrapt, vogueing along the catwalk. Did we mention that she’s not only a peerless dancer (need I remind you of that “Fade” music video?), but also an actress, too, playing a role in last year’s The After Party. With her new self-directed video for “WTP,” Taylor proves she’s slick behind the camera, too—and that officially makes her a quintuple (!) threat.

The video is a kind of Cinderella story focusing on the new York Ball scene. Taylor plays the inconspicuous newcomer, who reluctantly takes on her more experienced colleagues. With a little encouragement from her fairy godmother (also known as Mykki Blanco), she finally takes the plunge to throw herself onto the dance floor with a red hot wig, a black pvc bikini set with chain links, fishnet tights and an emerald fur coat.

You think you know the story of Cinderella… you don’t until you have watched Teyana Taylor’s “WTP” music video.

Jenny Lewis is ‘deeply troubled’ by Ryan Adams’ sexual misconduct allegations

“I am deeply troubled by Ryan Adams’ alleged behavior. Although he and I had a working professional relationship, I stand in solidarity with the women who have come forward.”

Adams has been accused by several women of sexual misconduct, manipulation and abuse. Bridgers and Adams’ ex-wife, Mandy Moore, were among those whose featured in the report.

An exposé published by the New York Times on Feb. 13 accuses Adams of sexual misconduct, emotional abuse and manipulative behavior by a number of female musicians, including his ex-wife Mandy Moore and rising artist Phoebe Bridgers. One allegation comes from a female called Ava, who says she began talking to Adams online when she was only 14 years old. Their communication went from music to explicit texting and, at age 16, a Skype call in which he allegedly exposed himself to the teenager.

Jenny Lewis has spoken out in response to the sexual and emotional misconduct allegations against longtime musical collaborator Ryan Adams.

Lewis, who just unveiled her new song “Heads Gonna Roll” (on which Adams has a production credit) this week, released the following statement on Twitter Friday night (Feb. 15): “I am deeply troubled by Ryan Adams’ alleged behavior. Although he and I had a working professional relationship, I stand in solidarity with the women who have come forward.”

Over the weekend, Bridgers — who was one of several women who came forward to the New York Times in an exposé that levelled various claims against Adams — took to her Instagram to address the situation.

Her lengthy Instagram post reads as follows:

It’s been a weird week and I wanted to say a couple things. Thank you from my whole fucking heart to my friends, my bands, my mom. They all supported and validated me. They told me that what had happened was fucked up and wrong, and that I was right to feel weird about it. I couldn’t have done this without them. Ryan had a network too. Friends, bands, people he worked with. None of them held him accountable. They told him, by what they said or by what they didn’t, that what he was doing was okay. They validated him. He couldn’t have done this without them. Guys, if your friend is acting fucked up, call them out. If they’re actually your friend, they’ll listen. That’s the way this all gets better.

Ex-wife Moore, who hasn’t released a full-length album since 2009, when she married Adams, says “music was a point of control” in her relationship with Adams, and that she was discouraged from working with other producers or managers. This came with emotional and psychological abuse, she says: “He would always tell me, ‘You’re not a real musician, because you don’t play an instrument.'”

Adams was accused of abuse by several women in a New York Times report published last week. It featured interviews with multiple women accusing Adams of behavior ranging from emotional manipulation to sexual misconduct, including accounts from his ex-wife Mandy Moore, Phoebe Bridgers, singer-songwriter Courtney Jaye, and others. Adams denied the allegations, addressing the Times report on Twitter.

Todd Wisenbaker, Adams’ guitarist, also shared a statement about Adams. In a post on Instagram, he wrote, “this is incredibly hard for me to do but Ryan please get help.” “There were times when I chose to believe his insane version of the truth because it was easier than believing that anyone is capable of being this much of a monster,” Wisenbaker continued. “I’ve recently learned that pretty much everything he’s ever told me is a lie upon a lie upon a lie. There are excuses and denials for everything.” Read Wisenbaker’s statement in full below.

“None of them held him accountable,” she said. “They told him, by what they said or by what they didn’t, that what he was doing was okay. They validated him. He couldn’t have done this without them. Guys, if your friend is acting fucked up, call them out. If they’re actually your friend, they’ll listen. That’s the way this all gets better.”

He continued: “I’ve recently learned that pretty much everything he’s ever told me is a lie upon a lie. There are excuses and denials for everything.

“Some time ago, I told him to get help and he asked me to help him. I don’t regret and will never regret trying to help someone in real need. I believe in forgiveness, redemption and recovery, but my life has become a complete shitstorm of someone else’s utter delusion.”

Weisenbackr added: “I didn’t want to say anything because I’m actively afraid for the safety of my family, but I do realise that I have a responsibility to speak up. The women that spoke up are brave beyond words.”

Can We Please Talk About Katy Perry’s Engagement Ring?

It was an unexpected announcement given the fact that they’ve been in an on-off relationship for the past three years. Katy Perrytook fans by surprise when she posted a picture of her pretty floral ring and announced that she was engaged to Orlando Bloom on Valentine’s Day. Revealing the news on Instagram, she captioned the picture, ‘Full bloom’. News that the two were seeing each other first emerged when they were spotted paddle-boarding together in Italy, with Bloom raising eyebrows by going completely nude.

On one hand, we’re always here for an unconventional engagement ring, especially when that means unique shape and stone. Whatever this pink center stone may be—some are guessing that it’s a pink diamond, others are saying it could be a ruby—we love that she’s rocking something that’s not a ginormous clear diamond.

He estimates that the ruby is about 2 carats and the diamond halo is 2.5 carats, making the entire engagement ring more than 4.5 carats altogether. E! reports the ring would retail for approximately $5 million.

“When you wear rings with larger carat, higher-grade gemstones aligned with a specific planet, it strengthens the area of your life that the planet governs,” says Askinosie. “Wearing a combination of diamonds and high-quality pink stones on your ring finger activates your connection to Venus and its love energy. In my opinion, this is one of the most powerful gemstone combinations for wedding or engagement rings. This ring also has eight diamonds surrounding the central gemstone, which represents the power of their love and a prosperous relationship.”

He also isn’t surprised to see Perry and Bloom get a non-traditional engagement ring. “It fits their personality. There’s a growing trend in couples wanting to step out of the box and buy a one-of-a-kind engagement ring,” Mobley says. “My guess is that Katy has a special connection to the color red which is why Orlando choose a ruby.”

“I’ve been trying to get some sleep because I’m on showbiz time.”

A Star is Born received eight nominations for the Oscars, including for Best Picture. And while Gaga’s co-star Bradley Cooper was nominated in the Best Actor category, he was notably snubbed for Best Director – the film is his directorial debut.

Speaking about the snub, Gaga told The Los Angeles Times: “Well, you know, you never know what’s going to happen. But at the end of the day, he knows that he’s the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast. I know that he’s so happy that we’ve all been nominated and that the film was recognised and we all feel really, really beyond elated for the recognition.”

“I don’t register this film in my mind as a time in my life when I ‘filmed a movie,’” she told me. “I register it as a time in my life when I became somebody else, and Bradley became someone else, and we lived those characters and fell in love.” A day like today, then, lets her recapture the magic of that time with Ally and Jackson Maine. “I feel them very much alive,” Gaga said. “And I think I always will.”

“Everyone who worked on this film truly risked putting themselves out there – in the hope that in doing so people will connect and feel something deep and personal – the way films have made me feel since I was a kid,” he said. “When I got this opportunity I knew I had to risk it all because I may never get another chance – so to be here today in a place where people who have seen the film are talking about how it makes them feel, something deep – that simple human thing – that we need each other – and the Academy to recognise that this morning – I just am so grateful.”
